South African gospel group Omega Circle has released a heartfelt new EP titled “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a deeply personal project inspired by loss, faith, and the enduring bond between a mother and child.

The EP reflects on the experience of losing a mother, a loss that can shake the foundation of one’s life. For the songwriter, it also became a source of inspiration and a path back to God.

“Losing a mother is perhaps one of the hardest things anyone can go through,” he explains. “It can make you question the world and those around you, but in that space, I learned to lean on God and trust Him to guide me.”

Central to the EP is the theme of trust, expressed in the recurring phrase “Ndithembe kuwe,” meaning “I trust in You.”This phrase threads through the songs, reflecting a journey of faith, hope, and remembrance.

The project emerged unexpectedly. One February morning, while feeling uninspired and creatively stuck, the songwriter realized that this year marked 20 years since his mother passed away. That realization sparked a wave of creativity, inspiring songs he imagines he and his mother might have sung together — moments that could also include the grandchildren she never met.

The songs arrived in quiet, reflective moments, some written in the early hours of the morning, others in spontaneous bursts of inspiration. Every track was written specifically for this EP, except for a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which opens the collection and sets a reverent tone.

“This EP is a tribute to the woman who taught me how to love God and love myself,” the group shares. “Worship music becomes a bridge to the warmth, love, and faith we can no longer physically experience.”

“Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” transforms grief into worship and memory into song, offering listeners a space for reflection and healing.

The EP is now available on major streaming platforms:
