After recently unveiling the dates for the upcoming Joburg Film Festival, the organizing team has now confirmed the dates and venues for the Youth and Audience Programme, along with the opening of submissions for the Young Voices Competition.
Scheduled to take place from Tuesday, February 27th, to Sunday, March 3rd, the festival is set to bring together filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts to celebrate the art of storytelling through film.
The festival’s sixth edition Film Programme will showcase over 60 feature titles while incorporating various audience and industry initiatives, including the Industry Programme, the Youth and Audience Development Programme, the Joburg Film Society, and the JBX B2B Content Market.
Prioritizing the growth and development of young South African filmmakers aligns with the festival’s ongoing vision. The Youth and Audience Programme aims to conduct skills development and empowerment workshops for young film creatives and content creators in the province.
This outreach initiative particularly targets young filmmakers lacking formal film and television education, training, and background. The comprehensive two-day workshop format will offer insights into various filmmaking disciplines, facilitated by industry leaders who will also provide networking opportunities. The programme will conclude with a free screening of “Four Walls” at the end of the second day.
Workshop session topics include:
- Scriptwriting
- Acting Workshop
- Story and Conceptualization
- Content Creation (on social media)
- DOP master class
- Directing Master class
The workshops are scheduled to commence at The Peoples Theatre @ Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein on January 27th-28th, followed by the second leg at the Gauteng Archives Centre in Kagiso, Mogale City, on February 10th-11th. Interested participants can register [HERE](link to be inserted).
